Business success

Founded in 1999 as a small web retailer of custom ‘overclocked’ PCs, Overclockers began in a 400 square foot warehouse in Stoke-on-Trent. Over time, the company became a leader in personalised high-performance computing, driving the eCommerce and personalisation boom. By 2021, after record demand for gaming hardware during the pandemic, Overclockers employed over 100 staff and moved into a new 100,000 square foot Indurent-built facility.

Beyond logistics, Overclockers specialises in configuring powerful, custom PCs for clients like police forces, Formula One teams, and universities, while cultivating a highly skilled local workforce to stay at the forefront of innovation.

“Bringing everything into a big new building—nearly about three times the size of what we had before—enables us to bring all the stock into one place and gives us a lot of expansion potential for the future. Space is the king.”

“We’ve had a great reaction to moving in, from basic things like kitchen facilities and toilets through to the general kind of ambiance of the building. Lots of natural light—even in the warehouse, you’ve got lots of windows, which is fantastic.”

“One of the benefits of moving to a brand new building is the energy efficiencies and sustainability features. Despite being three times the size, our power consumption is quite similar in the summer months, but in the winter months, we’re saving a lot because the heating is far more efficient.”

– Steve Ling, Executive Director at Overclockers

Employee wellbeing

Local hiring and training

Overclockers emphasizes hiring local talent, investing heavily in on-the-job training and apprenticeship programs. Their commitment to upskilling staff has fostered a highly skilled workforce capable of handling complex tasks like R&D, CAD design, and custom PC modifications.

Work environment

The new facility offers improved amenities like more natural light, better kitchen and toilet facilities, and overall enhanced ambiance, contributing to positive employee morale. The building’s design and modern facilities help create a workspace that employees genuinely enjoy.

Sustainability

Energy efficiency

Despite being three times larger than their previous building, Overclockers’ power consumption remains similar during summer months and decreases significantly in the winter due to better insulation and efficient heating systems. This move has helped the company achieve substantial energy savings.

Sustainable features

The new building incorporates rainwater harvesting systems and EV charging points, with 20% of the parking spaces dedicated to electric vehicles, aligning with Overclockers’ sustainability goals.

Cost savings

The enhanced energy efficiency of the new warehouse allows Overclockers to keep operational costs low, particularly during the winter, when efficient heating results in significant savings.
