Responsible business

Education & social investment

Education and future skills

Our sector is one of the fastest-growing in the UK, offering a diverse range of job roles and career paths in a rapidly-evolving industry. To match these expanding opportunities, we are committed to developing local skills, building a talent pipeline in the areas where we operate.

We seek to drive positive economic and social outcomes by collaborating with local partners to maximise employment and training opportunities. This includes supporting pathways into higher-skilled, higher-paid jobs, helping strengthen the local skills pipeline, and creating sustainable career opportunities.

Operating Practises

Developing key partnerships

We work in partnership with education providers and key stakeholders to understand local skills strategy, gaps and opportunities. We create tailored, area-based training plans with clear commitments to investing in local skills, leveraging our own resources and supply chain expertise to provide access to work placements and industry experience.

How we can have an impact

  • As an employer, support the ongoing development of our people, create pathways into early careers and inspire continued learning.
  • In the community, promote and invest in education partnerships to build local skills and promote pathways into our sector.
  • Work with our supply chain and industry partners to build awareness of career opportunities in the industry and promote opportunities for all.

Strengthening local communities

We believe that by working collaboratively with local stakeholders to understand areas of need, we can leverage our scale and resources to deliver a positive impact on social outcomes and wellbeing. Through our charitable activities, employee volunteering and community engagement, we aim to deliver a tangible impact in the areas that need it most, giving back to the communities where we operate and helping deliver positive social value.

We engage with community stakeholders ahead of planning applications being submitted, allowing residents to share their thoughts on how and what we develop.

We’re committed to building long-term relationships with our customers and the local communities in which our parks and buildings are located. We don’t just create spaces and move on. We retain ownership for the long term, which means we get to know the local community and build trusted relationships with them.

We support wellbeing programmes within our workplace, striving to create a safe and healthy work environment.

We consider and plan for the wellbeing of contractors and partners, whilst encouraging our supply chain to adopt positive wellbeing practices through their own operations.

We address the wellbeing of communities in all development plans, seeking to positively impact the communities we are operating in.
