Sustainability & Environmental Impact

Net Carbon Reduction

We are committed to tackling the global climate crisis by driving carbon reduction in the building and construction industry, which accounts for about 40% of global emissions.

To restrict average global temperatures to no more than 2 degrees, the UN wants everyone, from individuals to global corporations and governments, to decrease the amount of harmful carbon emitted to our planet.

Science Based Targets

Science-based targets initiative (SBTi) is a methodology and verification body for carbon reduction targets. The science-based name is attributed to the methodology which sets targets in line with limiting global temperature change to less than 1.5 degrees.

The methodology also ensures companies measure and reduce their scope 3 emissions. Indurent is in the process of aligning its carbon reduction targets to the SBTI new buildings methodology and rebasing our near and long term carbon reduction goals.

Join Us on the Journey to a Greener Future

Net zero carbon is at the heart of Indurent’s commitment to responsible business practices, driven by its critical importance to our stakeholders.

Our carbon roadmap outlines our strategy to tackle the two largest carbon emitters related to construction activity and the in-use phase of the buildings.

Biodiversity

We want to boost biodiversity at our developments and deliver new schemes in an environmentally responsible way. Population growth and social trends are impacting the natural environment around us in unprecedented ways. It is more important than ever that we take responsibility for our actions and make conscious efforts to minimise our impact on the environment.

We want to embrace a new, progressive way of approaching our interactions with the natural environment, lessening any negative impacts and maximising any meaningful gains and opportunities through informed, considerate design that also generates additional value for our customers and communities.

How We Can Have an Impact

  • Boost biodiversity at our new schemes, focusing on exceeding the legal requirement to deliver 10% Biodiversity Net Gain on new developments wherever possible and through the demonstration of best practice principles.
  • Standardise sustainable material management, ethical and sustainable sourcing and a high-quality, traceable supply chain.
  • Protecting existing trees and wildlife through the design of new development using the Indurent Park Code (see below) and the construction process as well as creating natural habitats to attract new wildlife to the area.
  • Maximise the co-benefits and ecosystem services that biodiversity and sustainable development can have, from climate resilience to social value, local microclimates to occupier wellbeing.
  • Empower our contractors and customers to manage resources efficiently and responsibly, developing an environmentally conscious process to minimise waste and maximise opportunities.
